Nobody likes red pimples hanging out on their faces. It can be so tempting to squeeze a pimple to get that nasty bump off your face.

Raise your hand if you have been guilty of constant pimple-picking with active acne. Yep, I was picking at pimples in desperation that they would somehow disappear.  I am amazed I don’t have scars from all the times I did. The main problem was that I would squeeze pimples with my bare fingertips, not realizing I was just spreading more bacteria on my skin, creating a snowball effect and more and more pimples would show up.

You can read more about my acne journey and how Curology has helped me.

Now since overcoming adult acne, I have learned not to squeeze pimples because it can cause damage to the skin and spread more bacteria increasing the pimples on your face.

However, if you absolutely MUST squeeze a pimple, use a tissue to pop a ready to immerge pimple.

How you know a pimple is ready to pop is that it will have a little bit of the white head sticking out of the skin. Just a little squeeze will get it to come out.

If a pimple is flat and hasn’t come to a head, don’t try and pop it-that will aggravate it even more and could make the pimple worse.

The BEST thing you could do for a pimple is to put tea-tree oil on it. I have done this so many times and it works great for spot treatment.

Tea-tree oil has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that make it great for using directly on the skin, I don’t even use a carrier oil.

When I have a large pimple appear (usually around my period) I put tea tree oil on a clean finger and put directly on the pimple. It is best to wait 24 hours before trying to pop.

This is so effective and helps shorten the time a pimple is active. Who wants to have to worry about covering a zit for days?

If You Must Pop A Pimple, Do This First…

  1. Start with clean hands and make sure your fingernails are clean
  2. Put 2-3 drops of tea tree essential oil on your finger
  3. Put the tea tree oil directly on the pimple
  4. After 24 hours, gently squeeze the pimple with a tissue, and the puss should come out
  5. Blood may come out, not to worry this just means all the pimply puss grossness is now out of the skin
  6. Dry the area then put another few drops on the area
  7. If a little scab is present, put a dot of concealer on the area to dry out the scab so it will flake off, and cover the spot on your face.

On Another Note,

I believe that beautiful skin doesn’t have to be something only celebrities can achieve with expensive skincare.

The best thing you can do for your skin is to hydrate and protect it! A few years ago I met a woman in Arkansas who is an identical twin. She was in her mid-50s and had smooth, supple skin. I was surprised to see her twin sister did not. Of course I asked her what her secret was, she said she uses COCONUT OIL! (I also think her twin sister was a smoker, so that might have played a part in it too.) No costly plastic surgery, just a jar of coconut oil. Plus, for some reason, plastic surgery never looks natural.

Coconut oil, along with its other million other benefits, does wonders for your face and skin. I like to use it as a carrier oil when I want to dilute essential oils. Some essential oils can even prevent wrinkles, according to this article from Medical News Today.

What I love about essential oils is that they are so versatile, and for being so tiny, they LAST an incredibly long time!

I have a pack of essential oils that I use on a regular basis (some I use more than others).

What I use my essential oils for:

Lavender: bath bombs, massage oils, sleep routine

Tea tree: acne spot treatment

Peppermint: hair stimulator, ease headaches

Eucalyptus: help breathe easier when stuffed up, ease headaches, bath bombs

Orange: stress relief, coffee scrub

Lemongrass: natural kitchen cleaner

What are your favorite essential oils?
